My name is Tess and I live in Denver, Colorado.
I observe and record life. As artists, we all do this. As for myself, I record through photos.
I began taking pictures around 2010. With industrial influences I was drawn to odd places, and searched for leftovers of a time before. Recently dedicating my practice solely to Film Photography, I obsess over the considerable effort that goes into the production of a photograph; Along with the intimacy that connects not only you to the instrument but also the subject you are capturing.
I mainly focus on industrial landscapes, but stray toward street photography and some model work. Timelessness of structures and the sincerity of the neighborhood, and of course some desolate nature makes for great inspiration.
Behind the lens I’m a drummer who loves hardcore music, and writes an occasional poem or two. I am looking to study Printmaking in the hopes of getting into screen printing, along with Philosophy, and Film Photography… I know, great backbone for a steady income.
Generally I strive to contrast a seemingly monotonous image with absurd abstraction and angles. I don't want to be conventional, un-original or generally liked because that would mean my work is probably too easy to like.
